Twitter has now removed the blue tick from verified accounts if they haven’t paid to keep it.
I’ll be honest – I could not give less fucks about the blue tick. For me, it’s always been a meaningless, trustless method of verification. You could (and people have) just as easily get verified as someone else even if you aren’t and have that bloody tick applied to your account. The blue tick was never anything that I would trust, so it’s loss on accounts means nothing to me – nothing has changed.
Let’s face it – if you have the need to follow a celebrity on Twitter, there are plenty of ways that you can find out if the account they’re using is really them or not, without the need of that bloody tick.
Bollocks to the blue tick, I say.
