I learnt today that Nora Forster, wife of ex-Sex Pistols and current PiL frontman John Lydon, finally succumbed to the Alzheimer’s disease that she’d been suffering from for the last few years. As someone that has had first-hand experience with Alzheimer’s, I know just how hard it can be living with someone who is suffering, especially in the last few months of their lives.
Born in Germany, Nora moved to London in the late 1960’s, where she helped financially support the punk bands The Slits, the Sex Pistols and The Clash – her daughter Ari Up was the lead singer of The Slits. She married John Lydon in 1979.
