Sinéad O'Connor

Sinéad O’Connor passed away on 26th July 2023.

Have to say that I did like her an awful lot. She had a lovely singing voice and an incredible range, that she put to good use over several albums. Of course the only one she’s going to be remembered for is for covering “Nothing Compares 2 U”, which is in itself a magnificent piece of singing (and she performs that song better than anyone else has ever has done, or ever will do). She did produce a lot of other work, worth checking out if you’re in the mind to do so.

I think she was a troubled soul, plagued by issues her whole life. She once said that singing was the therapy she used to escape her childhood trauma. She survived the traumas and we benefitted from her therapy.

In 2022, Katheryn Ferguson made an excellent documentary about her (called “Nothing Compares”) that charts her life up to and including 2022. That’s also worth a look.

The world has lost a troubled, but incredibly talented soul.

Rest In Peace Sinéad O’Connor.
